2017-2018 Teacher of the Year

Nicole Waters

Becoming a teacher was way more than I bargained for in the best way. Yes, teaching is challenging and I will never deny that, but despite all of the challenges I don’t know if my heart would be full of the love and warmth I receive from the tiny humans that give me endless hugs and  I love you notes every day, or would I have countless hilarious stories of something a child said or did if I were to have chosen another profession. If you have ever wondered if teachers really love their students I am here to tell you we do. I think about them, pray for them, and have cried for them. Teachers do not just come to school and teach a lesson we comfort, encourage, love, wipe noses, and so much more. Teaching is truly an act of the heart. I am thankful for each student I have had in my class over the past 5 years they have all been a part of my growth as a person and teacher. I am so honored to have been named teacher of the year at WPS and even more thankful to be able to teach a very special group of children and work with such amazing people.
